Hyattsville was founded in 1845 when Christopher Clark Hyatt bought a parcel of land in the area, as he felt that the property’s location near the
Baltimore & Ohio Railroad
and telegraph line made it an ideal site for a town. Hyattsville is a historic village with many Victorian houses, and in 1982 a portion of the city was placed on the
National Register of Historic Places. The

Today Hyattsville is still a small community with a proud history situated in an excellent location. Residents of Hyattsville have easy access to both Baltimore and Washington, DC by either car or public transportation. Hyattsville is located inside the Capital Beltway which allows for easy travel by car to the surrounding areas. In addition, the
Washington Metro
has two stops in Hyattsville, the
West Hyattsville station
and
Prince George’s Plaza station.
